Eric Frobish is a Partner at our firm. He was born in Pontiac, IL and was raised in both Livingston County and Grundy County, Illinois on his family’s farm, where he learned a wide variety of skills as well as the value of hard work and independence. This background has helped him immeasurably in his law practice, both in relating to and understanding his clients and their circumstances and also in regard to the demanding nature of family law work.
Eric graduated from Gardner-South Wilmington High School in Gardner, IL and attended college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he studied Engineering and Agriculture and where he ultimately graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics. He was a member of Phi Chapter of Sigma Pi fraternity at the University of Illinois, where he served as President and helped oversee a period of major growth, development, and success of the chapter. He subsequently spent over ten years on the fraternity’s local Alumni Board of Directors, where he helped manage and oversee fundraising for and the purchase of the undergraduate chapter house.
While attending law school at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago from 1993-1996, Eric worked as an intern at the LaSalle County, IL States Attorney’s Office and at the Legal Aid Bureau in Chicago. After graduation, he began his law career as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Livingston County, IL from 1996-1999, where he handled felony, misdemeanor, traffic and civil matters, and where he developed his comfort and poise in the courtroom. Prior to his time at Mueller, Lawson & Frobish, P.C., Eric had his own general solo law practice from 1999-2001 at the Law Office of Eric P. Frobish in Dwight, IL. Here, he first began handling family law cases and found that he was uniquely well-suited to and successful in that particular area of law.
Eric has been with our firm at Mueller, Lawson & Frobish, P.C. since 2001, and has been a partner since 2009. During his time with this office, he has been primarily responsible for the firm’s family law practice. In addition to family law cases, he has also handled a variety of other matters over the years, such probate/wills/powers of attorney, guardianships, real estate, criminal/traffic, and more.
Eric is also a Certified Guardian Ad Litem in the State of Illinois and is frequently appointed by the courts to investigate, report and testify on cases such as child custody and visitation disputes, guardianships, child relocation cases, and other matters involving minor children and disabled adults. In addition to this, he is also a Family Law Mediator and is certified as such in the Twelfth and Thirteenth Judicial Circuits, which cover Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Bureau counties in Illinois
Eric resides in Grundy County with his wife and three children. He is a long-time member of several local fraternal/service organizations, including the Knights of Columbus – where he is a 4th Degree member – and the Lions Club. In his spare time, he is a beekeeper and enjoys fishing, hunting, camping and working in his yard and gardens. He is very pleased to be able to work as a family law attorney, representing people in the community where he grew up and has lived nearly all of his life.
